Festival Place

Ken Hutchinson Architect

Project Summary

Festival Place, is a 500 seat live theatre and events facility in Sherwood Park, Alberta build for the Strathcona County Cultural Foundation. It is a 500 seat multi-use theatre, designed to provide a wide range of live stage and music performances. It has a large exhibition area off the main foyer for art show as well as a multi-purpose space for wedding receptions and other special events, thus making it a true multi-use facility.

We designed the project using a direct Client participative process, with the Client consisting of 23 groups representing the broadest range of interest. We designed the project on the blackboard, with their full involvement and met very strict funding parameters. We have since won the AAA Public Choice Award (1995) for this project.
